Vorvaň was formed in 2009 by guitarist Eugene Cherevkov in Moscow, Russia. Later bassist Igor Butz, drummer Alexandr Fursov and Eli Mavrychev joined the band. In February 2012 Vorvaň released their debut EP ‘Sailing the Vastness of Oceans’ via Gorgona Records. This record became a mix of different heavy music styles and the songs were written under the influence of big amount of innovative groups.
After the ‘StVoO’ release Alex left the band and the new drummer Alexey Merganov joined Vorvaň, new line up went to their first Russian tour, opened their small recording studio in Moscow, released the split album with Kharkiv based group The Chains in November 2012 and finally went to their first CIS tour.
In 2013 Vorvaň actively played shows, shared stage with Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, Walls of Jericho, War from a Harlots Mouth and released digital EP ‘In Gloom’ by the end of year presenting their more aggresive and solid sound. Their music became even more experimental and chaotic. Next year Vorvaň opened their new recording studio, went to the headlining European tour playing shows in Germany, Belgium, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus. Later Zakk Hemma replaced Alexey as a drummer and the band focused on writing new material, rarely playing shows with successful bands as Converge, Kylesa, Architects.
During whole 2015 Vorvaň were preparing new material, recording songs again and again and finally finished the work on their first longplay album ‘Once Love Was Lost’ which was produced and mixed by famous Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studios and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege and going to be released in October 2016 via Darkened Days Records, WOOAAARGH and Enrage Records.
Musicians from Converge, From Ashes Rise, Punch, Afgrund, Plague Widow, Distaste took part in making this album come true. The music Vorvaň prepared for their listeners now has completely different sound, mixes new genres and contains ten themes united under one idea. Atmosphere becomes darker, lyrics become more hair rising, group uses second guitar and additional instruments. The release of ‘OLWL’ opens the band’s new era.

VORVAN 'Once Love Was Lost'
"...a hard-slugging, skull-battering, electrifying piece of metallic hardcore viciousness."
A very dark yet melodic sound
Doomed to Darkness
