WØLFENSTEIN is a four-piece hardcore band from Stuttgart Germany, playing a fast, aggressive and dynamic, but emotional style of hardcore punk, with several influences such as Screamo, Grunge, Noise and Dark Hardcore. The Band's eponym is Alfred Wolfenstein, a jewish poet and anti-fascist born 1883 in Halle (Saale), Germany.
'STAEDTER' is a concept album based on a poem of the same title by the band's eponym Alfred Wolfenstein. Next to his work it is furthermore influenced by several other literary writings. It deals with life experiences in a metropolis and therefore relates to issues like emotional isolation, hopelessness and loneliness - although being constantly sorrounded by people.
Staedter tells several multilayered and non-chronological stories from the perspectives of different people, who are all living in this metropolis, but are in any other aspect completly different from each other. Each protagonist is a unique person (or a group) with their own emotions, opinions, experiences and politicals views. Some of them are poor, some of them are rich, some also experience family tragedies, political conflicts, poverty, racism, opression and violence, as victims, but also as perpetrators.
